Capabilities

Real capabilities. Described, not scored.

A capability in Zynaut Pathways is something you can do, stated in the same words a job is described in, and backed by evidence that keeps its source. It is a description of you that you can show — never a level, a rank or a number.

Ways of describing what you can do

Skills are what you name. A capability is what the evidence shows you can do, stated so that someone who has never met you can understand it — across the whole of a life, not only the academic part of it. These are kinds of description the record uses: not a catalogue to complete, and not a count.

Go deeper

From a skill you name to a capability you can show.

In the record, a capability is a claim: derived from evidence, carrying where that evidence came from and how strongly it supports the claim. Remove the evidence and the claim goes with it. There is no level, grade or benchmark — confidence describes the evidence, never you, and it is never compared between people.

  • Described in the same words a job is described in
  • Derived from evidence, never asserted alone
  • Confidence stated per claim — never a level of you
  • Changes when the evidence does
  • Never compared between people
Capabilities are the bridge between who you are today and who you can become.

How a capability is supported

The kinds of evidence, and who stands behind each

Every entry keeps its issuer. A certificate stays a certificate, a project stays a project — and your own word counts, marked as your own.

Real capabilities. Real lives.

Capabilities, described from three sides

A school student, someone who taught himself, and a programme that wants to say what it teaches.

  • Four young women in college blazer uniforms sit closely around a table in a corridor, smiling and pointing together at photos in an open magazine.Illustrative journey

    A school student

Captains a team, organises a fundraiser and fixes the family's computer. None of that is on a mark sheet. In her record each is described as a capability — leadership, work execution, technical — with her own word as the first evidence, and a teacher's confirmation when one is given.

  • A man leans over a workbench, carefully engraving a repeating floral pattern into a wooden printing block by hand.Illustrative journey

    A person who taught himself

Has no certificate for what he does best. He adds the work itself — the things he built, and who received them — and the record describes what that evidence supports, in the words an employer would use, marked as his own word until someone who saw the work confirms it.

  • A red-sandstone university building with a lattice facade, a green lawn and students walking near its entrance.Illustrative journey

    A college programme lead

Describes what the programme teaches in the same words a job is described in, so a graduate's record and an employer's need are written in one vocabulary. She sees where a cohort stands as an aggregate, never any one student without that student's permission.

Illustrative journeys, written to show what the design is for. Zynaut Pathways is in development and no customer story, testimonial or measured outcome is published yet.

Questions

Questions about capabilities

All questions
  • Is there a list of capabilities to choose from?

The record describes what you can do in a shared vocabulary — the same words a job is described in — so a learner, an institution and an employer mean the same thing by the same words. It is a way of describing, not a catalogue to complete, and no count of it is published.

  • Are there levels — beginner, advanced and so on?

No. A capability carries how strongly it is supported by evidence, claim by claim. That is a fact about the evidence, never a level, grade or benchmark of you — and it is never compared between people. Thin evidence means thin evidence, not a weak person.

  • Can I add a capability nobody has verified?

Yes. You can say what you can do and where it came from; it counts as your own word, marked as such, until whoever stands behind it confirms it. A record that holds only your own word is still a valid record, and it is yours.

  • Does it replace my certificates, or records I already hold elsewhere?

No. It is designed to sit above the records you already hold, not to replace them. A certificate remains a certificate; here it becomes one piece of evidence with its issuer attached.

What is not claimed. No customer, adoption figure, outcome, partnership or certification is published anywhere on this site, because none has been verified. Every design fact here is a commitment about how the record is built, not a report of results.
